When the beautiful Mrs. Lena Barr pays a call on Archibald and Roderick, their detective skills are put to the test. On the trail of an ex-con, the two “chucksboos“ court danger and deception as they search for stolen emeralds that are the key to a long-forgotten mystery. 

The pieces of their puzzle are held tightly by a scheming seamstress, a wealthy widow, and a jeweler who provokes more questions than answers. More than mere reputation is at risk after the grisly demise of two suspects occurs while Lena’s heirloom emeralds are sought. All that glitters is not gold when the bachelor detectives come face to face with a cold-blooded killer determined to hide the truth at any cost.
